Mary Robinson at her desk.
A new RTÉ documentary about Mayo native and former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, will air next week.
The documentary 'Mrs Robinson' is a fresh look at the life and legacy of Ireland’s first woman president – particularly relevant at the moment in the run-up to the presidential election in autumn 2025. It reveals Mary Robinson’s story in her own words for the first time.
It will be aired Wednesday July 23 at 9:35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.

From her beginnings in Mayo, she developed a strong sense of social justice, and went on to become president at the age of 46.
The documentary shows her impact not just in Ireland but on the world stage as UN High Commissioner and later as Chair of the Elders, the independent group of global leaders (founded by Nelson Mandela) who work for peace, justice, and human rights.
'Mrs Robinson' will air on RTÉ One on Wednesday July 23 at 9:35pm and will be available to steam on RTÉ Player.
'Mrs Robinson' is a Loosehorse production, which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2024 followed by a general release in cinemas in August 2024.
