Ballinrobe made it two wins in a row on Sunday morning, when they were too good for a poor Manulla side, in the sunshine of The Green.
Dean Shaughnessy put the home side in front on eleven minutes, when he finished Jose Poblaciones’s effort after Manulla failed to clear a free kick. The lead lasted three and a half minutes. Gary McHale headed in James Bolster’s cross, after Manulla pressure. McHale caused Ballinrobe problems early on with his physical strength and aerial power, but he sent the few headers he had over or wide.
Shane Ryan flicked a pass to JP O’Gorman, but the Ballinrobe striker’s shot was saved by Jack Livingstone. The home side got more into it and O’Gorman had a few half chances. Poblaciones and Oisín Hanlon had chances too but the sides went in level at the break.
Manulla started the second half well, but they tired in the heat. JP O’Gorman tapped in team goal of real quality, on sixty-eight minutes, to restore Ballinrobe’s lead, and Oisín Connolly drove home a free kick with five minutes remaining. O’Gorman wrapped up the scoring when he slotted home a penalty in stoppage time.
