Martin Lyons, late of Auburn Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, and formerly of Mayo, RIP
THE death took place recently of Martin Lyons, late of Auburn Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, and formerly of Co. Mayo.
He was a brother of John Lyons, Main Street, Knock. Their late father was from Corhawnagh, Aghamore.
Martin worked as a milkman with Premier Dairies in Dublin for many years. Catherine and William Cruise recalled fond memories of those times.
“Martin was our milkman for many years in Granitefield. He was such a lovely man, always good humoured and so funny and would cheer up the darkest days.”
Niall Connolly worked alongside Martin on the mild rounds for some time. “He had a way of making even the ordinary moments memorable.
"Martin spoke with such passion about his pigeons. You could see how much they meant to him.
“That dedication and love said so much about the kind of person he was. He was just a great guy, and I feel lucky to have known him.”
Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Killiney, and was followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery, Shankill.
Martin, who was predeceased by his brother Brendan, will be sadly missed by his wife Catherine and their family, David, Martin, Alan and Anita, daughters-in-law Sandra and Louise, son-in-law Stevie, sister Noreen, brothers Noel and John, grandchildren Cailin, Stephen, Siobhan, Ciara, Sean, Danielle, Evana, Ben, Ella, Jack and Sophie, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family and many friends.
