RIP: Former Mayo chef sparks sadness upon passing

AMBROSE Dunne, Bearna Demesne, Co Galway, formerly of Ballindine, Mayo and Celbridge, RIP

AMBROSE Dunne, Bearna Demesne, Co Galway, who died recently following a short illness, was formerly of Ballindine and Celbridge, was well known in parts of Mayo and Galway.

Ambrose was a talented chef and spent some years working in the Belmont Hotel, Knock, where he made many friends and was held in special regard by his colleagues.

He was much to the fore in the Knocknacarra Active Retirement Association in Galway where his warm nature and hearty humour endeared him to so many.

Former work colleagues and friends joined in the tributes to Ambrose and among them was one from Katie, Sean and Jimmy Flynn in New York. “In life we meet special people and Ambrose was definitely one of them. He was one of the kindest caring people I knew. His big smile and laugh will never be forgotten.”

Reposing was at his daughter Caroline’s home in Belmont, Milltown, Tuam, and a Mass to celebrate his life was held in the Church of Mary Immaculate Queen, Bearna, and was followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium.

Ambrose, who was predeceased by his wife Susan and his brothers Dessie, Vincent and Eugene, will be sadly missed by his daughter Caroline (Costello) and his son Gerard Dunne, sisters Anne and Rita, brother Tony,  grandchildren Laura Ann, Liam, Niall, Aoibheann and Dara, son-in-law Seamus, extended family and a wide circle of friends.
