MARIAN Walsh, Castlemacgarrett, Claremorris, Mayo, late of Lohan Park, Brickens, RIP
MARIAN Walsh, Castlemacgarrett, Claremorris, Mayo, and late of Lohan Park Brickens and Claremont Nursing Home, who died peacefully in Castlebar Hospital, was well known and highly thought of by all who knew her. She had been in declining health for some time.
Marian was a member of the staff at Baxter in Castlebar for several years, where she made many enduring friendships and where she commanded great respect and regard among her colleagues.
She enjoyed her days in Baxter and loved to meet up along the way with friends from those times.
Many friends from those times were among those joining in the tributes to Marian.
Theresa McCormack, Glenhest, said she had great memories of their time in Travenol/Baxter. “I remember Marian as a kind, friendly and a very hard worker.”
Ríona Kelly, Roundfort and Glinsk, stated: “I was saddened to hear of Marian's passing. She was such a genuine and friendly person.”
Michael and Teresa Keane, Claremorris and Salthill, commented: “We both had the privilege of teaching her in Mount St Michael's and the Walsh family were our next door neighbours in Castlemacgarrett.”
Neighbours Michael and Mary Macken from Coolroe remembered Marian as a very kind and gentle lady.
Mary Coleman, Carradoyne, Claremorris, said Marian was a devoted and loyal member of the local community. “Marian was a most beautiful person and was a trojan worker in her younger years.
"She did a huge amount of great work for her parish of Crossboyne and she was a wonderful secretary of many organisations.”
The community extends condolences to her sisters and the family circle on the passing of Marian.
Reposing was at Gilligan’s Funeral Home, Claremorris, with removal to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Crossboyne. Following the celebration of Requiem Mass, interment took place in Crossboyne Cemetery.
Marian, who was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary Delia Walsh and her sister Claire Brennan and her brother-in-law Pat Brennan, will be sadly missed by her sisters, Christine, Siobhán and Carmel, brother-in-law Walter Hughes, nephews and nieces Bláthnaid, Roisín, Walter, Ultan, Doireann, Caolan, Sinéad and Julie, relatives, neighbours and friends.
