Mayo surfer Robin Keating from Westport has started a GoFundMe campaign for the World Surfing Championships.
The competition will take place in El Salvador from September 4 to 15.
Keating was part of the Irish surfing team that made history by finishing third at the European Surfing Championships in Santa Cruz, Portugal - the highest-ever ranking for Team Ireland.

He played a key role in securing the bronze, contributing valuable points despite challenging wave conditions.
"It is a historic success," says Robin Keating, speaking to The Mayo News after coming back home from Portugal. "It was great to be a part of it. And it was a great performance from most of our athletes, and a pretty okay performance from the lower performing athletes, but all round we did great."
Next up for Keating is the challenge of the World Championships to continue riding the wave for Ireland.
As an unsponsored surfer, balancing family life and a full-time job as a sole tradesperson, funding the trip is a major challenge.
