MUSIC Critically acclaimed songsmith Brigid O’Neill will play in the Gallery Wine Bar, Westport, this Thursday
GIFTED STORYTELLER Singer/songwriter Brigid O’Neill will perform in Westport this week.
Critically acclaimed, genre-spanning songsmith Brigid O’Neill is stopping off in Westport to play in the Gallery Wine Bar, Brewery Place, this Thursday, May 23, as part of her current UK/Ireland tour.
Earlier this year O’Neill, who was brought up in Downpatrick, Co Down, was awarded the highly prestigious (and hugely competitive) PRS Foundation Award in the UK, and she also performed at the Folk Alliance International Conference in Montreal.
Loved by BBC Radio Ulster’s Ralph McLean and lauded by the likes of Chord Blossom and Musos’ Guide, she will be performing tracks from her latest album ‘Touchstone’, which has received rapturous reviews from the critics.
Hailed as an immensely gifted storyteller, O’Neill’s songs soar to new heights in the live environment, and her music taps into elements of folk, country and more to create hook-laden, relatable tales of happiness, heartbreak and the human condition.
She has previously treaded the boards of the likes of the world famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, the iconic Grand Opera House in Belfast and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. The Gallery gig is a wonderful opportunity to see her perform in an intimate setting.
