Tributes are pouring in for the victims of the fatal car crash in Clonmel on Friday evening that left four young people dead and plunged their families, friends, communities and the entire Premier County into grief, shock and sadness.
Tipperary TD, Michael Lowry, said: "People across Tipperary and the entire country are overcome with shock and sadness at news of the deaths of four young people in Clonmel.
"Three teenage girls, and a brother of one of the girls aged in his 20s, lost their lives when the car they were travelling in crashed on Mountain Road, just outside the town of Clonmel.
"The girls had received the Leaving Cert results just hours earlier and they were on their way to celebrate with friends from the schools they had attended locally when the tragedy occurred."
The driver of the vehicle involved, a man aged his early 20s, and three female teenagers were fatally injured in the incident in Clonmel on Friday evening, gardaí have confirmed.
It is understood that they had been on their way to celebrate after receiving the results of their Leaving Certificate exams earlier.
Deputy Lowry added: "My thoughts at this time are with the parents and families of these young people, with their friends and fellow pupils and with the staff at the three schools they had just recently graduated from in Clonmel.
"The closely knit community of Clonmel and people across the entire county of Tipperary and beyond will rally to offer every possible support to the families and friends in the very difficult days, weeks and months that lie ahead.
"They will be in the thoughts and prayers of all."
