Recently elected TD for Dublin South East, Lucinda Creighton, returns to launch the Open Exhibition in her native town
Lucinda to launch the 2007 Claremorris Open Exhibition

CLAREMORRIS native and recently elected member of the Oireachtas, Lucinda Creighton TD, will launch the 2007 Claremorris Open Exhibition (COE) at a special function in the COE Gallery on Saturday, September 8.
In what became one of the stories of Election 2007, Lucinda Creighton toppled one of the big guns of Irish politics when she succeeded in taking the seat of former Minister for Justice and leader of the Progressive Democrats, Michael McDowell, in the keenly fought constituency of Dublin South East.
In many ways a David and Goliath type success, this launched Lucinda on to the national platform and makes her the youngest member of Dáil Éireann.
Lucinda is the daughter of John and Mary Creighton, Claremorris, and is a past pupil of the Convent of Mercy. She has been resident in Dublin since moving there to study Law at Trinity College and has been an active member of the Fine Gael organisation there from an early stage.
In 2004 she became a County Councillor on her first attempt representing Pembroke Ward in Dublin South East and from there launched her campaign to seek election to Dáil Éireann.
Now entering its 30th year, the Claremorris Open Exhibition has established itself as on of the top visual arts events in the country and hosts a broad range of quality artists from both home and abroad. The exhibition is featured annually in the national media and is regularly reviewed by such critics as Aidan Dunne of The Irish Times. Last year’s exhibition received full page colour coverage in The Irish Times and was also featured in a number of other newspapers and radio programmes.
One of the great things about COE is that viewing the exhibition demands a degree of exploration, as the works are placed at a number of locations throughout the town. So explore the town, see some top art and drop in for a coffee!
All are welcome to the launch of COE 2007 in the COE Gallery (next to The Local) on Saturday Sep 8 at 8.30. The exhibition will run until September 29. Opening times are Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to  5pm and on Sunday from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
