Mayo University Hospital has released a statement informing people to expect long wait times if they are to visit the Emergency Ward as they deal with an influx of attendance.
In the statement today, the hospital also revealed that they were postponing elective procedures due to a need to prioritise urgent procedures.

Those affected have been notified.
The hospital also warns those attending that there have been ‘significant delays’ for those who are seeking treatment in the Accident and Emergency ward.
The Castlebar facility has seen a spike in figures, with a 31 per cent rise in people waiting to be seen in the Emergency Department since last week.
The trolley numbers stand at 34, up from 30 last Tuesday.
The situation in Mayo is indicative of that nationwide, with figures for those seeking treatment increasing by 71.
