Mayo County Council awaiting water quality test results for Shore Road bathing waters

Mayo County Council has confirmed that a prior warning issued for bathing waters at Shore Road, Belmullet remains in place pending the outcome of further water quality testing.

The local authority said new samples will be taken from the bathing waters and an update will be provided once the results have been received and assessed.

However, the council has confirmed that all other prior warnings issued on June 5, 2026, have now been lifted following satisfactory water quality test results.

Prior warnings are typically issued when there is a potential risk to bathing water quality, often following periods of heavy rainfall or environmental factors that may impact water conditions.

Members of the public planning to swim at Shore Road are advised to monitor updates from Mayo County Council until the latest water quality results become available.

Further information will be issued as soon as testing is completed and the results have been reviewed.
