Castlebar Mitchels have claimed the Mayo GAA senior football championship - again - after nine years. They beat Garrymore in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.

RORY BRYNE 8

AN outstanding display from one of the best in the business. His handling under pressure was impeccable and his kicking was excellent.

JOE TUOHY 7

ONE of the team's unsung heroes. Did a great job harnessing the Garrymore full-forward line and his battle with Trevor Nally was a joy to behold.

DONNACHA MCHUGH 7.5

MAN-MARKING is his thing and he did another top-class job on Sunday. Rarely let Darren Quinn out of his sight and contributed hugely to his side's win.

SEAN MORAHAN 7.5

SWITCHED to the full-back line to mark Cathal Slattery and excelled. His display in the first half was exceptional and he even managed to run 60 yards and kick a fine point after 23 minutes.

CONOR MULROY 7

A tireless display. Worked up and down the wing all day. Won breaks, linked play and helped mind Eoin McGreal when Garrymore attacked.

JOHN MACMONAGLE 8

AN outstanding display. The team captain led by example. He tackled with great timing, defended with skill and defiance and got forward with great impact.

PADDY DURCAN 7

A momentous day in a sparkling career. Began brilliantly and almost goaled after three minutes. Kicked a two-pointer in the second half to keep his beloved club beyond reach.

BOB TUOHY 8

HIS best day yet. Kicked a two-pointer after 69 seconds and set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. Climbed into the sky effrtlessly at times. Blasted just over the bar in the second half.

ULTAN O'REILLY 7

WORKED his socks off to dominate the middle third alongside Tuohy. Threw his body in the line of fire time after time. Very important cog in the wheel.

ANTHONY O'BOYLE 7

ANOTHER of the unsung heroes. Won dirty ball in the middle third and was always available to link play and keep his side going forward.

NEIL DOUGLAS 7

PLAYED a different role on Sunday. Was deeper than usual and used his intelligence, strength and passing ability to great effect as Mitchels built a lead.

SHANE CUNNINGHAM 7

AN invaulable contribution. Spent most of the day behind midfield locking down the back line and moving the ball forward. Put his body on the line time and again.

CIAN WALSH 7

ONE of the best forwards in the championship. He won almost every ball that came his way and used possession impressively. Stroked home a late penalty to seal the deal.

JOE FORRY 7.5

HIS movement, kicking, passing and game intelligence was a joy to behold. Won more than his share of ball that came his way and his two-point free near the end will be recalled for a generation.

JAMES DURCAN 7

RETURNING from injury and used all his experience and game-smarts to help pull opponents hither and tither to allow Mitchels build an early lead they never relinquished.

SUBS USED

EOGHAN HUGHES

THE powerful forward added to the workrate and opportunism of the winners' attack.

CALUM FILAN

THE lively smart attacker helped guide his side home.

BEN JOYCE

MADE a big impression. Was very involved after coming on.

ETHAN GIBBONS

THE lethal finisher came on to help get his side over the line.

CONOR STENSON

The cheers for one of Castlebar's great servants almost raised the roof when he came on.
