Mayo GAA club receive €5k due to 'Support Your Local Club' competition

Westport GAA receive €5,000 through Solgar’s ‘Train like a legend, support your local club’ competition.
Solgar, the official vitamin partner of the GAA and GPA, has awarded €5,000 to Westport GAA after the club was named as a runner-up in its all-Ireland ‘Train Like A Legend, Support Your Club’ competition helping to support the next chapter of the club.
The funding will support improvements throughout the club benefiting players of all ages, coaches, volunteers and families whose dedication helps the club thrive.
Running throughout the 2026 championship season, the competition was designed to celebrate extraordinary impact grassroots GAA clubs have on communities across Ireland and marked Solgar’s 40th year trading in Ireland.
Through its partnership with the GAA and GPA, Solgar is recognising the players, coaches and community volunteers who help their clubs thrive on and off the pitch.
Jessica Gyateng, Marketing Director, Solgar, Nestlé UK&I said, “Grassroots GAA clubs do so much across communities in Ireland – they bring people together, create opportunities for young people and strengthen communities across Ireland. We are delighted to award €5,000 to Westport GAA, and we hope this funding will help the club continue to grow, develop and make a positive local impact.”
Joe Carty Chairman of Bord na nÓg at Westport GAA said, “We’re thrilled to receive this runners-up prize, which will make a real difference to our club. GAA clubs are at the heart of communities across the country, and this support will help us continue to provide a positive environment for our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters.
We would like to thank Solgar for recognising the important contribution of clubs like ours and for its continued support of the GAA community.”
Solgar are in their second year of a three-year partnership with the GAA/GPA as the Official Vitamin Partner and an official sponsor of the Croke Park Museum that began in February 2025.
