The Crossmolina teenager is tipped to make a serious impact in the AFL.

Fresh from helping Mayo win their first All Ireland since 1951, Crossmolina’s Kobe McDonald is understood to be arriving in Australia this week.

It’s understood that the teenager who is set to play for St Kilda in the AFL will be in attendance for their game against Carlton on Friday evening. According to AFL.com, the 18 year old will arrive in Australia on Thursday as he is set to get familiar with new surroundings.

St Kilda currently sit in 11th position in the league which consists of 18 teams. The last time the Melbourne based club tasted Premiership success was back in 1966.

McDonald will likely progress through the side’s reserve team before making his top flight debut. In his debut season at senior inter county level, the Crossmolina talent made an instant impact and was a crucial part in Mayo’s All Ireland success.

Former Mayo Footballer and Kilmaine native Oisin Mullin is impressing in the AFL as he continues to shine for Geelong. Just one hour away from St Kilda, Mullin may reconnect with his fellow Mayo man while Westport native and former Mayo Ladies Footballer Saoirse Lally is also at McDonald’s club in Melbourne.

It is also understood that McDonald’s parents Ciaran and Karen are also set to move to Australia as this year's Leaving Cert student begins his new career ‘Down Under’.
