Mayo kingpins Tooreen will take on London’s Brothers Pearse in Bekan on Saturday afternoon with the winner advancing to the Connacht final

Tooreen have little time to relax after Saturday’s win over Four Roads. The men in blue will be back in action again on Saturday when they have a home game against London champions, Brothers Pearse, in the Connacht Intermediate Club semi final at the Connacht GAA Centre in Bekan at 1.30pm.

The London champions recorded a one point win over Sean Treacy’s in a highly-competitive county decider, emerging winners on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-16. The winning point came right at the end of an epic encounter when Malcolm Flannery floated over the winning score.

The Mayo and defending Connacht champions are delighted to have a home game on this occasion and they enter this contest on the backs of two superb displays against Ballyhaunis in the Mayo final and Four Roads of Roscommon in the provincial quarter final last week.

They’re playing fine hurling at present with high scores being tallied every time they go out. There’s a fluidity to their play that has stood them in good stead up to now. However, Tooreen will be wary of the London challenge, having been pushed all the way down to the wire in some recent clashes with the various London standard bearers. Shane Morley, the new man at the Tooreen helm after taking over the reins from Ray Larkin earlier in this year, will be taking nothing for granted and will have his panel in top shape for this showdown.

A healthy crowd is expected in the Connacht Centre of Excellence for this one, which promises to be an intriguing contest. The winners will meet either Mullagh or Kilconieron who drew 1-20 to 2-17 in the Galway Intermediate Final last Saturday in the Connacht Final in Hyde Park on Saturday week, November 14.
