Last Saturday, January 17, four Mayo Youths teams travelled to Newcastle West in Limerick to compete in the West Coast Darts Challenge.
It truly was an unforgettable day, from big fish finishes to maximum scoring, the quality of darts on display was outstanding. Across the weekend, the Mayo sides performed well as they secured glory on the oche.
The Mayo A team overcame Galway B, Roscommon B and Clare B in the group stages before defeating Leitrim and Donegal in the knock-out stages. In the final showdown, Mayo overcame Clare A 3-1 as the Mayo boys claimed glory. On the victorious team were Finn Ruane, Eddie Sweeney, Jack Duffy, Ethan Maloney, Zach Rogers and Alex Bielinski.
In the semi finals of the youths doubles, Mayo’s Jack Duffy and Ethan Maloney reached the semi finals while Jack Duffy also reached the final in the shield competition.
In the Adult grades, all Mayo teams were competitive as they performed credibly well. The Ladies team had an outstanding weekend as they claimed victory in the final as they overcame Donegal 4-1 to claim Mayo’s second piece of silverware of the weekend.
