Mayo GAA selector Colm Boyle has given an update on the return of four players to the fold for the upcoming National League campaign.

Boyle was speaking in the wake of the FBD League final between Mayo and Galway in Tuam Stadium, where the Green and Red suffered a late defeat at the hands of their near neighbours.

First to come into conversation was Jordan Flynn. The Crossmolina Deel Rovers man was a vital part of the side in 2025, but didn't play a minute of either of Mayo's three FBD League ties.

Boyle confirmed that the talisman has been in training well and featured in a challenge match on Friday evening.

Another man who is nearing a return to competitive fare is teak-tough defender Donnacha McHugh. Boyle stated that he'd have his first week back in full training this week, with a view to him being available for selection in the next few weeks.

However, the return of Matthew Ruane may be a bit further down the track. "He's just having a bit of an operation," Boyle said when asked about the Breaffy man. "He's going to be a bit longer, I'd say, looking towards the middle of the league hopefully for him."

Lastly, the focus turned to the highest scorer in Championship history.

"Cillian O'Connor, he's back doing a bit of running, so we'll be hoping to push him through in the next few weeks."
