The Newport Pickleball teams
Pickleball is taking off in Mayo.
Newport Pickleball Club has collected a few medals at West of Ireland Open Tournament.
A band of Newport Pickleball Club players and supporters headed to Galway to compete in the 2025 West of Ireland Open Tournament hosted and organised by Galway Pickleball Club.
The Newport team played in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles matches, with opening rounds leading to quarter- and semi-finals, followed by a final.
After a series of competitive and close matches, with a lot of vocal support, Newport pairs made it through to the final in each division and emerged with silver medals in all three: Seo McNally and Michael Groden in the men’s final, Sarah Coyle and Louise Staines in the women’s final, and Sarah Coyle and Seo McNally in the mixed doubles final.
Congratulations all round and thanks to the club supporters and to Galway Pickleball Club for excellent hosting and organisation.
