Community groups and supporting organisations from across Mayo will come together in Mulranny on Friday, September 18, to share experiences, build connections and explore how some of the challenges facing our natural environment can be addressed.

Mayo Communities Caring for the Environment will take place at Mulranny Park Hotel and is hosted by Mulranny Community Futures and the CARE Project, in partnership with Mayo County Council and Atlantic Technological University Mayo.

A broad range of locally led initiatives will feature in the morning session, with a focus on their development, successes and some of the challenges encountered along the way. The session will highlight the breadth of what is already happening at community level across Mayo.

Supporting organisations and agencies will also take part, with information tables and time set aside for attendees to meet representatives and find out about potential supports available to local groups.

The afternoon programme will include a workshop facilitated by Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Mayo. The gathering forms part of the wider CARE (Community Action for a Regenerative Environment) Project, based in Mulranny, Mayo’s designated Decarbonising Zone.

The event is supported by the Government of Ireland through the Decarbonising Zones Demonstrator Fund, and by the Sunflower Charitable Foundation through the Community Foundation Ireland Mayo Sustainability Fund.

Mayo Communities Caring for the Environment takes place at Mulranny Park Hotel on Friday, September 18, from 9.30am to 4.30pm. The gathering is free to attend and open to all, with advance registration through Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/mayo-communities-caring-for-the-environment-tickets-1994655633695?aff=oddtdtcreator

Supporting the conference reflects our belief in the power of locally led action to create a more regenerative, resilient and sustainable future for Mayo. Real and lasting change happens when people work together to care for the places in which we live.”
