Uisce Éireann crews continue restoration work after Storm Boelo-related power outage at the local treatment plant

Uisce Éireann crews are continuing work to restore water supplies across Erris following a power outage at the local water treatment plant linked to Storm Boelo.

Power has been restored at Erris Water Treatment Plant, but treated water levels are still recovering following the prolonged outage.

Uisce Éireann said customers should begin to see their water supplies gradually returning throughout Monday, October 26, with full restoration hoped for by this evening.

Following an outage, it can take time for the network to recharge fully, particularly for properties on higher ground or at the end of the network. Customers may also experience reduced water pressure or airlocking as supplies return.

Areas affected include Blacksod, Ballyglass, Toorglass, Attycunnane, Inver, Pullathomas, Doohoma, Foxpoint, Carrowmore, Glencullen, Muings, Briska, Bellacorrick, Keenagh, Glenamoy, Rossport, Carrowtigue and Killgalligan, along with surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann Operations Manager Colette Scahill said crews were continuing their efforts to restore supplies to all affected customers as quickly as possible.

“We are asking customers who have water supply to be mindful of their usage and conserve water where possible while the network recovers,” she said.

Uisce Éireann acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the unplanned interruption and thanked customers for their patience and co-operation.

Customers are also being encouraged to report any visible leaks on the public water network.

For updates, customers can visit www.water.ie or contact Uisce Éireann’s 24-hour customer care helpline on 1800 278 278. Free text alerts are also available by registering an Eircode and mobile number on the utility’s website.
