Mayo fundraising challenges raise huge funds for Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland

Vincent Greavy, a member of Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland, has raised €4,100 for the charity through two fundraising challenges, which will be presented at an upcoming Patient Information Day in Castlebar later this month.
A Mayo man has raised an impressive €4,100 for Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland (CCI) through two fundraising challenges completed with the support of friends and family.
Vincent Greavy, a member of Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland, took on the Croagh Patrick Charity Climb on Saturday, July 25, 2026, before completing an abseil at Thomond Park in Limerick on Saturday, October 10.
The two challenges were undertaken to raise funds for CCI, which supports people living with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and other forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Vincent expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who donated, helped organise the fundraising and offered encouragement throughout both challenges.
He said the generosity and support of friends, family and the wider community had made a real difference in reaching the €4,100 total.
The funds will be presented to Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland at an upcoming Patient Information Day in Castlebar later this month.
The CCI Patient Information Day will take place at the TF Royal Hotel & Theatre on Saturday, November 21, from 12 noon to 4:00 pm. The cheque presentation, marking the €4,100 fundraising achievement, is scheduled to take place after 4:00 pm.
The event will provide an opportunity for people to learn more about Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and the support and information available through CCI.
Meanwhile, local people will have another opportunity to support the charity at a Pack for Purpose bag-packing collection in Dunnes Stores, Ballina, on Saturday, November 7. The collection will raise funds for Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland and offers members of the community a chance to contribute to the organisation’s work.
Vincent hopes the fundraising achievement will help raise awareness of CCI and encourage further community support for the charity.
