Achill came alive on Easter Sunday as crowds gathered for a parade as part of the Island Life Festival, with organisers delighted by the overwhelming positive response from both locals and visitors. 

The parade showcased the very best of Achill’s community spirit, featuring colourful floats, lively performances, local groups and visiting participants, all contributing to a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. 

Dennis King a Canadian politician and diplomat who is currently serving as the Canadian ambassador to Ireland. was Grand Marshal of the event. 

“I was delighted to be invited to Achill for this wonderful event. I had the pleasure of meeting members of the Achill Tourism team at the Holiday World Show in Dublin, where they extended the invitation to visit.

“It has been fantastic to experience the warmth of the community and to see such a vibrant celebration here on the island.” 

Organisers of the event expressed their sincere gratitude to all those who made it possible. Chris McCarthy, manager of Achill Tourism spoke of the positive feedback they have received following the parade.

“The feedback we’ve received has been extremely positive. It was fantastic to see such strong community involvement and to welcome so many visitors to the island for the occasion.” he added.
