Knock based priest awarded 'Knock Medallion' as he marks his ninetieth birthday

A long-time resident of Knock, Fr Tom Harrington, recently marked his 90th birthday with a special honour.

Having lived in the parish for nearly two decades, he was presented with 'The Knock Medallion' by Knock Parish Priest, Fr Richard Gibbons. Fr Tom has served in many different ministries at The Shrine and neighbouring parishes during his time in Mayo.

Born in Carrigaline, County Cork, in 1935, Fr Harrington went on to join the priesthood in All Hallows College, Dublin, and Beda College, Rome. He was ordained a Priest for the Westminster Diocese, where he served in several Parishes with Cardinal Basil Hume, whom he holds in the highest regard.
