Mayo beaches will be a popular destination for the sunny scorcher of a weekend ahead.

Locals and tourists alike will flock to places like Old Head, Keem, Killala  or Silver Strand to go for a dip in the Atlantic Ocean.

Met Éireann has confirmed a dry, settled and warm spell for most of the upcoming weekend.

Water Security Ireland has already warned beachgoers that sunshine and rising tides can bring risk to Mayo coastal waters.

Earlier this year, there have been no sim notices issued for several places. For example at the Belmullet Tidal Pool.

But now, Mayo County Council have announced:

"All prior warning notices issued for beaches last Friday, July 4, have now been removed following water quality testing results on July 9."

The warm weekend with lots of SPF, bathing gear and 99s can go ahead.
