No end date for ‘No Swim’ notice at popular Mayo swimming site

The Belmullet Tidal Pool, which has been placed under a 'Do Not Swin' notice by Mayo County Council.

There is no end date in sight for the ‘Do Not Swim’ notice for the Belmullet Tidal Pool, as a further statement has been issued on the popular Mayo swimming spot's closure.

On Wednesday, June 11, the Council announced the decision to close the popular swimming spot, along with the location at Shore Road, with resampling taking place later that day to evaluate the quality of the water.

Now, five days on, swimmers will have to bide their time. In a recent Facebook post, ‘Belmullet Tidal Pool Shore Road’ has shared that adult open water swimming classes scheduled for today (Monday, June 16) have been postponed due to the closure.
