This Valentine’s Day, Enable Ireland is hoping the people of Mayo will be indulging in the adage of ‘out with the old, in with the new.’
At least in terms of once-loved items that they hope will be making it into their Castlebar charity shop this February.

The initiative, which encourages locals to ‘break up with their stuff,’ aims to help declutter homes and rehome these items, raising vital funds for the charity in the process.
Enable Ireland, who help those with disabilities, ensures that even should these items not find a new home, they will be recycled where appropriate in textile banks.
Oonagh O’Connor, Commercial Manager at Enable Ireland, hopes that the campaign will encourage even more goodwill and donations to the store.
“February is a month associated with love and romance,” she stated It’s also a time when many people choose to declutter their homes with a Spring clean.”
“This year, we’re uniting the two by encouraging the public to ‘break up’ with their once-loved items, and then fall in love with second-hand.”

For Ms O’Connor, the message is simple: give what you can.
“Go through your wardrobes, kitchen presses, and chest of drawers. What may no longer have use for you, could be exactly what someone else is looking for.”
“We’ll help your donations find the perfect match and you’ll help raise funds to benefit our vital services.”
Enable Ireland’s Castlebar store is located at 1, High Street.
