Islandeady Cycling Club and Westport AC to host annual charity walk/run

The event takes place on the August bank holiday weekend

Mark your calendars for bank holiday Saturday, August 3, as the Islandeady Cycling Club, in collaboration with Westport AC, is set to host its annual five and ten-kilometer walk/run event.

All funds raised from on the day will be donated to the Islandeady Community Council and Islandeady GAA/LGFA.

Taking place at the picturesque Jack's Old Cottage in Islandeady, the event promises a day of fitness, fun, and community spirit. 

Everyone is invited to participate, regardless of age or fitness level. 

Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll, a steady jog, or a competitive run, the course allows participants to move at their own pace. 

Additionally, the event is officially measured and licensed by Athletics Ireland, complete with chip timing for accurate results.

The Islandeady Fun Run will commence at 10 am sharp, starting and finishing at Jack's Old Cottage.

The route spans 5 kilometers, taking participants on a scenic journey in a clockwise direction, culminating back to the cottage. 

Those opting for the 10 kilometer challenge will complete the route twice. 

Ample parking facilities will be available near Jack's Cottage, ensuring convenience for all attendees.

Early birds can take advantage of a special offer by registering for just €15 (plus booking fees) per adult on EventMaster before 12pm on Friday, August 2.

For those preferring in-person registration, the fee will be €20 per adult on Friday, August 2, or Saturday, August 3. 

Entrants under the age of 16 can participate for free, making it an excellent opportunity for families to come together for a day of healthy activity.

Race numbers can be collected from Jack's Cottage on Friday evening between 6 and 7pm or on the morning of the race. 

Gather your friends, family, and colleagues, dust off those running shoes, and join together for a day of fun, fitness, and giving back to the community.
