Michael ComminsIT has been a hectic few weeks for Maureen Walsh from Kiltimagh, mother of showbiz impresario, Louis Walsh. Since news broke that Louis had been chosen for the Mayo Person of the Year award, messages of goodwill started pouring in to the family home at Chapel Street.
“People are so good and I am so grateful to all who have lent their support,” Maureen told The Mayo News at the weekend. “It was a lovely night at the dinner dance in the City West and the Mayo Association members could not have been more helpful and supportive. It was also nice for Louis too as he met up with some friends from the home area that he had not seen for several years.”
But for Maureen, it was the lovely messages and goodwill emanating from her own friends that touched her heart in a special way. “I want to express thanks to all who phoned me at home and the many people who sent cards and messages of support on this special occasion. Others called around to the house to offer their congratulations.
“The people of Kiltimagh and Knock and neighbouring areas have been so good and I just want to say how thankful I am to everyone who went to the bother of contacting me and other members of the family. Louis gave me the special award and it now sits proudly here at home in the house.”
