Glowing skin for the party season
Maggie Gibbons reviews some new products designed to help your skin look its best this Christmas
Trilogy Everything Balm A definite must have in my humble opinion. It’s a brilliant skin hydrator, lip balm, eyelid enhancer and cheek definer, all rolled into one. I use it now all the time. Recently I tried it overnight on chapped lips and they were smooth as a baby’s you know what next morning. Every girl should have one! If you are confused by all the hype and promises that surround moisturisers then you’re not alone. I met a group of Air hostesses recently who swear by it, and that says a lot when you consider the stress their skin endures.
Trilogy Everything Balm is available at Nourish Health Stores, Arnotts and selected pharmacies. It costs €16.95 for a 45 ml pot.
Garnier Youthful Radiance tinted under-eye roll on Even the best looking girls can appear wrecked from the hazards of too many late nights and excessive partying. It’s the eyes that show it most, bags, circles and fine lines are emphasised. What to do? Well enter a fantastic product by Garnier which goes a long way to eliminating these tell-tale signs of excess. It’s Youthful Radiance tinted under-eye roll-on. It’s easy to apply, and the initial effect is cooling on the skin in this delicate area. I wasn’t too sure whether the tint would work or not, but it really does and it blends in really easily with your foundation. The consistency is fluid which is a big plus as there’s no rubbing in or cakey appearance – good for dark circles and puffiness. I think I’ve tried every product available from time to time for the eye area and this definitely comes close to the top of my list. I’d actually prefer it to a very well-known concealer! And it comes in at around €12 which is a great price for this little wonder product. Apply it as many times as you like during the day, it will simply blend with foundation without looking dried out. Now that the party season is almost upon us it’s time to start filling your make-up bag with products like this to hide the evidence of your nocturnal madness!
Youthful Radiance Roll-on anti-circles by Garnier is available in chemists nationwide and Boots stores. Cost €12.
Toleriane Teint Mineral Compact, La Roche-Posay This wonderful product corrects the imperfections of sensitive or intolerant skin. Its mineral powder texture covers like a foundation without blocking the pores. I’m a huge fan of la Roche-Posay anyway as their range is pure and preservative free. Toleriane Teint Mineral Compact, €21.50, is billed as a complexion corrector for intolerant, sensitive, normal-to-combination skin. I found the coverage to be excellent, it didn’t feel cakey, and it did a good job of hiding the little thread veins on my right cheek and disguising the look of blemishes without making the skin look or feel dry. It gives a lovely natural matte finish. I’d go so far as to say flawless and that works for me every time! Underneath my eyes though, I preferred to use my normal concealers; I prefer a creamy product there. I found the matte finish tended to emphasise the lines under my eyes. A younger lady who tested it for me adored it she regularly suffers break-outs. She found it totally mattified her complexion and she loved the consistency. The fact that it’s preservative- and fragrance-free appealed hugely to her, and she found it provided a higher coverage than anything else she tried. It’s a doddle to apply. Simply take a small amount of Compact Foundation with the sponge provided and spread the product from the center of the face outwards. You can reapply as many times as you like.
Available at chemists nationwide it costs €21.50.
