Popular Mayo restaurant to close

The popular The Towers Bar and Restaurant at Westport Quay is set to close its doors, and focus on their new venture at JJ O'Malley's on Bridge Street.

Announced today via Facebook, owner Tom Bourke and the team called the closure announcement ‘bittersweet’.

They wrote on Facebook: “It has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, but now feels like the right time to close this chapter as we begin a new one.

First and foremost we would like to thank our incredible staff, past and present, we owe our success to your hard work, dedication, and passion. Without you, The Towers would not have been what it was – a place filled with warmth, great food, and wonderful memories.”

They thanked their ‘loyal customers and friends’, saying over the years they have become ‘part of [their] extended family’.

“As we close this chapter, we are excited to focus on our new venture at JJ O'Malley's on Bridge Street.We hope to see many familiar faces and receive your continued support as we begin this new journey. Here’s to building a new thriving business together and creating something Special in JJ’s!

We are in the process of contacting anyone who has a future booking with us so please bear with us whilst we go through the booking list,” they continued.

The post explained that all vouchers purchased for the Towers can be honoured in JJ O’Malleys once re-opened.
