Castlebar's Linenhall to launch new website

Éilís Kennedy and Pauline Scanlon, better known as Lumiere, will perform at the Linenhall on Saturday

The Linenhall Arts Centre will be officially launching its brand new website tomorrow morning (Wednesday, October 11).

Developed and designed by Path and funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, it has a fresh look and feel that's easy to navigate. A labour of love for the Linenhall team, all of their current and future offerings feature beautifully, from performances and visual arts exhibitions to children and young people’s programming, plus general information on the historic building, exciting news and developments.

The latest events at the Linenhall include Bridge of Song’s four-year anniversary concert with Ger O’Donnell and Trevor Sexton, which takes place tomorrow (Wednesday, October 11). A monthly Singer/Songwriter showcase that exploded onto the music scene in Mayo in 2018, Bridge Of Song is the brainchild of Mayo College Of Further Education’s Music Course Director, Eamonn Mulderrig. Each year since, the Linenhall has been thrilled to host its celebratory, anniversary concert. This time around, Ger and Trevor, two vocal powerhouses whose close harmonies and instrumental styles complement each other wonderfully, are set to delight local audiences.

More music awaits, with the superb talents that are Éilís Kennedy and Pauline Scanlon, who are scheduled to deliver a compelling performance on Saturday, October 14. The duo, otherwise known as Lumiere, while both hailing from Dingle, are world renowned for captivating their audiences and the Linenhall are thrilled to see them reunite once again, in concert.

Cinematically, there’s a screening of The Innocent, a crime farce that playfully toys with the audience throughout, being held this evening (Tuesday, October 10) as part of the Linenhall’s fortnightly Film Club. In this French comedy-thriller, aquarium worker Abel is furious when he learns his mother Sylvie is marrying a recently paroled inmate named Michel.

Visual Arts is in the spotlight this November, when The Mayo Artists Show 2023 will be accepting submissions from Saturday, November 4 to Wednesday, November 8 (excluding Sunday, November). Open to those aged over 18, either living in or from Mayo, artists at all career stages and of any discipline are invited to submit up to two pieces of visual art. A submission fee of €5 per artwork applies. As always, this bi-annual show presents a cornucopia of work in all manner of media, which will be exhibited in the Linenhall Gallery from Friday, November 17 2023 until Saturday, January 6 2024.

Visit the same web address www.thelinenhall.com with its brand new look for further information regarding What’s On at the Linenhall, or contact the friendly box office team on 0949023733.
