Breaffy GAA to host Up for the Match preview this Friday

Two former Mayo stars will take part in Breaffy GAA’s Up for the Match preview this Friday night ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final clash between Mayo and Tipperary.
It’s to conclude a Movember event where some of Breaffy community’s finest, alongside some special guests, have grown some impressive moustaches, beards and everything in between to help support a local young family.
Among those taking part in the ‘tash up’ fundraiser are Mayo legends Willie Joe Padden and Martin Carney, who will also be among the guests taking part in an outdoor, socially distant Up for the Match event to preview Sunday’s big game as Mayo bid to reach their fifth All-Ireland final in nine seasons.
It will be live steamed on Friday night on Breaffy GAA’s Facebook page on Friday night at 8pm. The three men along with many of their Movember mates will be getting their taches and beards shaved off as part of the Up for the Match event.
Another participant is Mayo midfielder Matthew Ruane, although he will be understandably otherwise engaged this weekend!
The host will be another Breaffy man, Colm Gannon, Sports Editor of The Mayo Advertiser.
The fundraiser is in aid of the Sloyan Family Support. In May 2020, the untimely death took place of well-known and hugely popular footballer Darragh Sloyan.
Darragh lived in Breaffy with his wife Lorraine and their four young children. He was a former Mayo underage footballer and played club football with his native Kiltimagh and Castlebar Mitchels.
