Sun worshippers set to take advantage of the good weather forecast for the west
More sun promised this week
Mayo people can keep the sun loungers and barbecues out this week as the sun looks set to shine for a little while longer.
After a number of weeks which saw those fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the mild temperatures flock to lakes and beaches around the county, temperatures are set to increase again this week.
Today (Tuesday) a predicted cloudless sky by Met Eireann will see temperatures ranging from 15 to 18 degrees and will ensure that sun worshippers will be able to dine al fresco. Tonight, temperatures will turn cool with ground frost in places.
Wednesday will see the mercury rise to 16 degrees, while Thursday is expected to bring with it some cloud and a pleasant and balmy 17 degrees for this time of year. A band of rain is expected to close in on the later part of Friday but is set to clear on Saturday.
Over the past week the west of the country experienced just 30 percent of the average rainfall for this time of year and soil temperatures were above normal, coming in at nine to 12 degrees.
