Tourmakeady and Burrishoole into Mayo Intermediate final

Tourmakeady and Burrishoole will meet in this year’s Mayo Intermediate Football Championship final after victories in Saturday's semi-finals at McHale Park, Castlebar. Tourmakeady needed late points from Kevin Dolan and Micheal O’Neill to see off Belmullet by 0-9 to 0-8. In a repeat of last year’s semi-final, the sides were locked together at 0-4 apiece at half time, but four points from Billy Joe Padden appeared to have given Belmullet victory before Tourmak’ won through. Tourmakeady’s Tom Naughton and Belmullet’s Shane Nallen both went off injured. Burrishoole beat Kiltimagh by 0-12 to 1-8 in the other semi-final, with corner forward Jason Doherty accounting for half their tally. A rather fortunate goal by Aiden Lydon kept Kiltimagh in the hunt, but they trailed at half time by 0-8 to 1-4. Burrishoole hit three points in the opening four minutes of the second half, but then went 20 minutes without scoring. Points from Kiltimagh sub Sean Malee and centre forward Ciaran Charlton brought the gap back to one, but a David Keane effort clinched victory in a tight game for Colm McManamon's side. The Mayo Junior Football Championship final will also be an all-West Mayo affair after Islandeady and Parke emerged from Saturday's semi-finals. Islandeady beat Louisburgh in Saturday's Junior semi-final at Westport. Islandeady led by 1-7 to 1-3 at half time and eventually won by 1-14 to 2-9. Shane Heraty got the Islandeady goal, while Vinnie Feeney got eight points (including five frees) for the winners. The Louisburgh goals came from John Hegarty and Brendan Heneghan (a cracker). Parke beat Lahardane in the other Junior semi-final, winning by 1-11 to 1-7 in Knockmore. Both goals came in the first half, after which Parke led by 1-6 to 1-1. Dwayne Flynn scored 1-3 for the winners, while Tom Walsh and Simon Cloherty were outstanding. Shane Hargreaves got the Lahardane goal, but both sides finished with 14 men, as John Cloherty and Shane Loftus both picked up two yellow cards. Moy Davitts will play interrmediate football next year after being relegated in Saturday's Mayo Senior Football Championship play-off at Crossmolina. The Bohola/Foxford side went down by 1-11 to 1-10 to Kiltane, having kicked 11 wides and missed two goal chances. Ed Barrett, Shane Lindsay and Ultan Corrigan scored 0-10 between them for Kiltane. Meanwhile, Crossmolina B have been sent down to junior after Kilmeena beat them by 1-13 to 1-9 in the Mayo Intermediate Football Championship relegation play-off at Parke. Alan Ryan scored 1-5 for Kilmeena, while Padraig Syron got 1-2 for Crossmolina, who led at half time by 1-7 to 0-7.
