Teams of the Year announced

A whole galaxy of stars shone across the Men’s and Women’s Championships, but selecting 15 from
each competition certainly wasn’t an easy feat.

Those who were selected after much deliberation in The Mayo News office put in exemplary
performances across the season, making their inclusion well-deserved.

Connacht schools’ kings fall at first hurdle

Going into this season, the brave battalion of St Colman’s College would have been gunning for  redemption after their Hogan Cup loss on St Patrick’s Day.

However, those dreams were cut short in brutal fashion. Defeat in the opener against Roscommon CBS
piled on the pressure, but a last-day loss to Rice College sealed their fate.

First-rate Ballina poised for AIL promotion push

Six wins from six is never a bad place to be, and the Moysiders were in prime position to finish top of the J1A table at the end of the regular league season.

Mickey Murphy’s men have proved they can win any game, be it pretty or ugly, and they will take some stopping as they aim to batter that AIL door down.

Tooreen book All-Ireland final date

A first rate last quarter was enough to see the Blue Devils power past Éire Óg, Carrickmore, in the All-
Ireland hurling Intermediate club semi-final and onto a Croke Park date with destiny.
