Two-point controversy dominates discussion

The decision to award Kevin Mullin’s score, which seemed to be taken inside the arc as a two-pointer,
was one which was shrouded in controversy.

The score ensured that Kilmaine would be facing Kilmeena rather than Hollymount-Carramore in the
Intermediate quarter-finals, in a saga which left a sour taste for all involved.

Breaffy Rounders bring home the double

Once again, the brave Breaffy battalion headed off to Finals Day in Abbottstown with dreams of bringing home even more Celtic Crosses, and they delivered in style.

Gráinne Gavin’s fine strike was the clincher for the Women’s side, while victory for the mixed side over
Erne Eagles lit the bonfires.

Westport AC open new track

With the penitential loom of the Reek in the distance, there was a real sense of occasion as Westport AC opened their new state-of-the-art running track.

The cutting of the ribbon was a culmination of years of hard work at the club, and people came in their droves to celebrate the moment.

Westport LGFA secure huge treble

In a sign of the depth and work going in at under-age level, three Westport Under-16 sides won county titles in the one day in Bekan.

Lauren Cusack was captain as the girls in blue won the Division One final, while the ‘B’ and ‘C’ sides won the Division Two and Division Five Shields respectively.
