Hollymount Carramore will not pursue their objection to the result of their recent championship match with Kilmaine any further. The decision was made last night (Thursday) at a meeting of the club's executive committee.

It follows two weeks of frustration where the recording of a two-point score made national headlines.

As a result of Hollymount Carramore's decision, Saturday's intermediate championship match between Kilmaine and Kilmeena will go ahead as planned.

Speaking to The Mayo News, a club official said: "While we firmly believe our position and concerns are valid, we have decided not to pursue the matter any further. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the Mayo Intermediate Championship, as any further appeal on our behalf would cause delays to the Kilmaine versus Kilmeena fixture."

After the meeting of the club executive a statement was released to Mayo GAA where it was confirmed that no further action would be taken after their objection and subsequent appeal against the result were dismissed, first by Mayo GAA and secondly by Connacht GAA.

The club stated: "We wish to express our disappointment with the recent rulings of both Mayo CCC (Competitions Control Committee) and the Connacht Council Hearings Committee in relation to this case. It was evident to all parties that a grave injustice had occurred, and this injustice remains unrectified.

"We remain deeply frustrated with the process and outcomes that have led us to this point, but our decision has been taken in the best interests of Mayo GAA."
