Mayo LGFA community sends heartfelt messages after unexpected death of mother of five

A woman with strong sporting connections has passed away. Mary Gilroy died unexpectedly but peacefully at home.

Killala GAA wrote on their Facebook page: "We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Gilroy family and her extended family on the passing of Mary Gilroy. Killala GAA also extends their deepest sympathies to the Maheady family on their loss."

Also the Mayo Ladies Gaelic Athletic Association (LGFA) has expressed their condolences: "We are thinking of the family at this sad time, Aileen, former Mayo player, and sisters Yvonne & Emma who were also members of St Brigid's LGFA and all the family, Martin, Yvonne, Emma , Aileen, Mark and Darragh on the sad passing of Mary.

Mary is predeceased by her parents Martha and Michael Carroll and brother in law Michael Moyles

Mary will be sadly missed by her loving husband Martin, daughters Yvonne, Emma and Aileen, sons Mark and Darragh, sisters Evelyn (Moyles), Agnes (Ruddy) Antoinette (Maheady), brother Micheal, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Aileens partner Peter, nephews, nieces, relatives & friends.

May her gentle soul rest in peace

Mary's funeral will arrive at the Sacred Heart Church Kilfian F26AC80 for Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday, followed by burial in Kilfian Cemetery. Mary's funeral mass may be viewed on www.churchtv.ie/Kilfian and broadcast on the parish radio.
