Six-day celebration promises music, comedy, family fun and community spirit this July

Mayo is preparing to welcome visitors once again as the Coillte Come Home Festival returns to Kiltimagh from July 8 to 13, promising its biggest and most diverse programme to date.

Now a firm fixture on Mayo’s summer calendar, the festival continues to grow year on year, bringing together music, comedy, sport, family activities and community events across the town.

Organisers say this year’s expanded programme will see events take place at locations including Main Street, the Festival Field, local pubs, the Sculpture Park and a range of community venues.

Among the headline events for 2026 is Coillte Come Laugh at the Cill Aodain Court Hotel, featuring comedians Karl Spain, Ger Staunton, Martin Angolo and Aideen McQueen, while festival-goers can also look forward to the official opening by the King of the Coilltes followed by a fireworks display.

Live music remains central to the festival, with Ruaile Buaile set to perform one of the biggest nights of the weekend, alongside Friday night entertainment from Spring Break and music sessions in local pubs throughout the week.

Returning favourites include the popular Coillte Come Home Busking Competition, the Interpub Quiz and Poker Tournament, as well as Family Fun Days featuring Murray’s Funfair, obstacle courses, sack races, egg throwing and other activities for all ages.

New additions for 2026 include Pilates for EveryBody in the Sculpture Park, jiving workshops with Sandra Ganley, and the inaugural Shane Peach Freeman Junior Coillte Cup golf competition.

Festival organisers described the event as a celebration of connection, local pride and community spirit.

“Coillte Come Home has become one of the highlights of the summer in Mayo,” organisers said. “It is a celebration of community spirit, local talent and the people who continue to support Kiltimagh both at home and abroad. We are proud to see the festival continue to grow each year.”
