Claremorris student receives top national award as Mayo clubs celebrated at packed Tullamore ceremony
Young people from Mayo were among those recognised at the 2026 No Name Club National Youth Awards Gala Dinner, with students from Claremorris and Crossmolina honoured during the national celebration of youth achievement and community contribution.
Held before a packed audience at the Tullamore Court Hotel on Saturday, May 16, the event brought together young people, volunteers and club representatives from across Ireland to celebrate leadership, volunteering and personal development.
Mayo was strongly represented at the awards through finalists from Claremorris No Name Club and Crossmolina No Name Club.
The standout moment of the evening saw Simona Gaubyte of Claremorris No Name Club named one of two recipients of the organisation’s top individual honour, the Host of the Year Award, alongside Tegan Kirwan from Finglas No Name Club.
The award recognises young people who have shown exceptional commitment to volunteering, community involvement, personal development and contribution to the No Name Club movement.
Simona, a TY student at Mount Saint Michael, was recently nominated for a “30 Under 30” Young Tech Innovators list for 2026, further highlighting her achievements.
Meanwhile, John Lynott of Crossmolina No Name Club was also recognised as a national finalist during the awards ceremony.
In programme notes for the evening, Garrett Keengahan, Chairperson of the No Name Club Board of Directors, described the National Youth Awards as an opportunity to celebrate the impact of weekly club activities.
“Through our weekly club activities we successfully empower, engage and elevate all of our young people,” he said.
He added that the event was a reminder of “the incredible potential that lies within all of us,” describing No Name Club members as “visionaries, change-makers and architects of a better tomorrow.”
Founded in 1978, the No Name Club provides alcohol and drug-free social spaces for young people aged between 15 and 18 across Ireland.
