Wild Atlantic Horsemanship will host a Level 2 workshop with Paul Walker at Mulranny Beach

Horse owners, riders and handlers will have an opportunity to develop their skills at an advanced natural horsemanship workshop in Mulranny next month.

Wild Atlantic Horsemanship has announced a Level 2 workshop with international horse trainer Paul Walker on Saturday, November 7, following strong interest in its introductory Level 1 sessions.

The workshop will focus on taking the principles of groundwork into open spaces, helping participants understand how horses think, react and respond to clear, gentle communication.

Walker brings more than 30 years of international experience training wild horses in Chile and Argentina. During the session, he will demonstrate how groundwork can be developed into practical skills for working with horses outside a training pen.

One of the highlights will be Walker taking Cíon, a Connemara pony that has completed Level 1 training, out of the pen for the first time.

Participants will also learn about advanced groundwork, the preparation required for a horse’s first rides in open spaces and techniques for improving responsiveness through bridle work.

The workshop will emphasise building cooperation and confidence between horse and handler.

“Good horsemanship is built on leadership, respect, and trust. When a horse understands you and trusts you, training becomes clearer, safer, and better for both horse and handler,” Walker said.

The training approach draws on the methods of renowned American horse trainer John Lyons, whose philosophy places an emphasis on developing a trusting partnership between horse and handler.

The workshop is aimed at those who want to deepen their understanding of equine behaviour and develop a more respectful approach to training.

The workshop will take place at Mulranny Beach on Saturday, November 7, starting at 11am. Places are limited because of the interactive nature of the session, and advance booking is essential.
