The pair put in some exceptional displays as the Green and Red battled in the Connacht and All-Ireland Championships
Two Mayo LGFA stars have seen their exceptional showings across the 2026 campaign rewarded with nominations for All-Stars.
This season was a largely improved one for the Green and Red.
Under the tutelage of new boss Diane O’Hora, the side put in a more assured Connacht final showing against Galway and made it to the All-Ireland quarter-final following victory over Donegal.
Ultimately, their campaign came to an end at the quarter-final juncture at the hands of the Tribeswomen. However, there were signs of progress along the way, with some players shining across the year.
Two of those standout stars have been singled out for nomination.
Sinead Walsh is a player who has carried the hopes and dreams of the county for so long, and 2026 was no different. This campaign, she scored the first ever two-pointer for Mayo, contributed seven points in the provincial decider, and put in totemic displays against Dublin, Donegal, and Galway.
Westport trailblazer Aoife Staunton is another who was a standout across the campaign for her county. The inspiring forward led the scoring charts for O’Hora’s troops en route to and including the last-eight meeting in Tuam.
The All-Star team will be announced at a gala banquet at The Bonnington Hotel in Dublin on Saturday, November 14.
