Ecstasy was flowing across the land as Mayo lifted the Sam Maguire Cup in a historic. Here, we ran the rule over the performances on a historic day.

9. JACK CARNEY Today looked like a stiff task for the Mayo engine room, but the flame-haired Kilmeena fielder stood up from the off, asserting himself by plucking a Shane Murphy restart from the heavens. Carney relishes two-pointers as well, and when things were looking ominous with the Kingdom seven up, he kept his side in it with an orange flag as the second quarter beckoned. Continued to put in utterly Trojan work in the middle, and clipped over another two-pointer when Andy Moran's men needed it.

10. DIARMUID O'CONNOR Mayo's high press was ferocious at times, and the late inclusion from Ballintubber was right on 'keeper Shane Murphy's toes alongside Kobe to force a free. Made way near the end, but not as any result of poor performance.

11. PAUL TOWEY Tore into proceedings from the off, and was courageous to get under Jordan Flynn's breaking ball when this decider was in its infancy. Did relatively well, but was replaced by Tommy Conroy with 25 on the clock.

12. JORDAN FLYNN The Crossmolina dynamo was in fine fettle around teh middle, and broke well for Towey early doors. Followed up with a majestic pluck from the skies. There were worries after his booking before the changeover. However, they had no influence on his display in the second half when the tension was its zenith. His fetch early doors helped cool nerves, while his point coming down the home stretch was imperative.
