Ecstasy was flowing across the land as Mayo lifted the Sam Maguire Cup in a historic. Here, we ran the rule over the performances on a historic day.

5. SAM CALLINAN Blended some excellent defensive work across Act One with driving runs, one of which got him on the end of a Kobe McDonald pass to raise a white flag. Continued on that vein in Act Two, and picked up a Celtic Cross for his efforts.

6. DAVID MCBRIEN As always, a menace coming onto the end of moves late, and was rewarded by getting Mayo onto the scoreboard seven in. Got his hands dirty at the back too as Mayo attempted to, and succeeded in strangling that star-studded forward line.

7. ENDA HESSION Set the tone for Mayo from the off, with driving runs and a one-two with David McBrien for Mayo's first single. His nouse at the back proved vital to put off Sean O'Shea as he looked destined to shoot for goal, turning him back and forcing a point. A generational showing, and a generational prize at the end of it all.

8. BOB TUOHY The man from the county town was sizzling as he lit up Croke Park. Whether it was leaping into the sky to take on the Kingdom's mammoth midfield, or being in and around the breaks and knitting play together, his contribution is one which made a huge difference.
