Ecstasy was flowing across the land as Mayo lifted the Sam Maguire Cup in a historic. Here, we ran the rule over the performances on a historic day.

13. DARRAGH BEIRNE (9.5) The hero of the day, with a goal which will be replayed for generations to come. Formed part of a trident which hunted and harried Kerry from minute go. As always, accurate from the deadball before the break, and picked up where he left off with a majestic shimmying run to kick-start the second half with a score. His three-pointer was rasping, and shall be remembered forevermore.

14. RYAN O'DONOGHUE The Belmullet tyro is the embodiment of this Mayo team. The way in which he led from the front, forcing turnovers is unlike anything this writer has ever witnessed. Add into that his panache for raising orange flags and you have a generational All-Ireland final showing.

15. KOBE MCDONALD The starboy from Crossmolina was well-marshalled,but still managed to conjure up some invaluable moments on a day of tight margins. His jinking magical run set up Sam Callinan's point, while McDonald produced stunning singles in the dying echelons. If this is his last game with the Mayo crest over his heart, what a game it was.
