North Mayo prepares to welcome Sam as homecoming tour continues

The celebrations continue today with a special River Moy crossing in Foxford, followed by a civic welcome in Ballina and an evening event in Belmullet.
After a successful night of celebrations in Ballyhaunis, the Sam Maguire Cup will now make its way to north Mayo today, beginning with a special crossing of the River Moy into the parish of Knockmore.
Knockmore's Darren McHale and Moy Davitts man Cian McHale will carry Sam Maguire across the bridge in Foxford before the team continues on to Ballina. The crossing is expected to take place at approximately 1:00 pm.
The team will then head to James Stephens Park, home of Ballina Stephenites. Gates will open at 2:00 pm, with the players expected to arrive at around 3:00 pm.
An Garda Síochána has advised that traffic disruption is expected in Ballina from early this afternoon. No parking will be permitted at James Stephens Park or in the immediate vicinity, and restrictions will be in place on approach roads.
Free parking will be available throughout Ballina town and at The Mart Car Park on Crossmolina Road.
Gardaí have also confirmed that the homecoming celebration will be an alcohol-free event.
Following the Ballina celebrations, the team will travel to Tallagh in Belmullet. Organisers have advised that parking will be limited and are encouraging patrons to use the free park-and-ride service, which will operate from The Square every 10 minutes.
