Irish crime writer will share the inspiration behind her Clew Bay-set novels at free author event

Author Pam Lecky will visit Westport Library on Thursday, October 29, to discuss her Wild Atlantic Murders series, which draws inspiration from her family connections to Mayo and her lifelong love of the Clew Bay region.

The event will begin at 6pm and will give readers an opportunity to hear about the background to the novels and the inspiration behind the stories.

Lecky, an Irish author of crime fiction, will read short excerpts from each of the books in the series and discuss how her connection to the west of Ireland has influenced her writing.

Her latest book in the series, The Clew Bay Detectives, was released in June 2026. The next instalment, Murder in County Mayo, is due to be published on November 25, with a third book, A Body at Kincora Estate, scheduled for release in June 2027.

The series reflects Lecky’s deep family ties to Partry and her enduring interest in the landscapes and communities around Clew Bay.

The Westport Library event offers an opportunity for local readers to meet the author, discover more about the development of the series and hear how Mayo has helped shape her fictional world.

Further information about Pam Lecky and her books is available on her website.
