Mayo College of Further Education and Training hosted the All Ireland Hairdressing Colleges Championships on Tuesday February, 3. Taking place in The Castlecourt Hotel, the event saw students from all across the country in attendance.
The event was organised by Heather Lynott Moore and Siobhan Costello Feeney, hairdressing teachers at Mayo College of FET.
Speaking on the success of the event, Michael Murphy, Principal of Mayo College of FET, expressed his delight with the championships and the opportunity to host such a prestigious event.
“We were absolutely delighted with the overall standard of the competition and the professionalism shown by students and staff alike. It was a great honour for Mayo College of FET to host this prestigious national event, and the success of the day is a credit to everyone involved.”

Representative of the championship’s sponsor Wella, Brian Maloney, expressed his delight with the event and with Wella’s involvement. He noted how impressive it was to see such a high standard of emerging talent and to be part of an occasion that celebrates education, creativity and the future of the hairdressing industry.
The overall winner of the Martha Galvin Perpetual Cup and Irish Colleges Hairdresser of the Year 2026 was Laura Breen, representing ECCFE in Carlow.
