Mayo man set to cycle 7,500 km across Europe for charity

To celebrate his 60th birthday, Mayo man, Daithí Heneghan, will cycle from North Cape in Norway, the northernmost point of mainland Europe, to Tarifa in southern Spain, covering 15 countries over approximately 36 days.

The Louisburgh man will take on a route that includes an estimated 80,000 metres of climbing and will expose the rider to a wide range of terrains and extreme weather conditions.

The challenge is scheduled to begin at one minute past midnight on June 20. Daithí aims to raise £60,000 for COCO, a charity dedicated to providing sustainable education opportunities for children in marginalised communities.

“This milestone birthday felt like the perfect moment to do something big,” said Daithí. “COCO’s work transforms lives, and I hope this ride inspires people to support a cause that makes a real, long-term difference.”
