There is light at the end of the tunnel for commuters affected by roadworks en route to Westport, as works on the R-335 are due to conclude this week.

According to Mayo County Council, the pavement enhancement works on the Westport-Louisburgh Road are set to end on Friday, November 14.

The two-kilometre stretch of road, which starts at the L-1801 Coast Road at Belclare, regularly brings commuters to one of Mayo's most iconic landmarks, Croagh Patrick.

The works have been ongoing since Monday, November 3, and have led to traffic management and a convey system being put in place.
